Vision

Our vision is “to wake up in a future with stronger language speakers, teachers, and learners who embody their own creative identity with their own individual approach to a good life; mna-bmaadziwin.

To be healthy and independent and of sound mind in our relationships with each other, other nations and all of creation.

To reassert our language and identity and to spread it to Anishinaabeg and interested allies to reverse the effects of assimilation, colonization and genocide acted upon us through Canadian Residential Schools.”

Paswe’aatigook’s curriculum, resources, faculty and staff are dedicated to preparing students for success and independence in their continuing journey.

Our Ojibwe-centric curriculum provides students with educational experiences that satisfy their intellectual, social, cultural and spiritual needs. Through land-based learning, games, skits, elder interaction, crafting, classroom lesson delivery and team-building activities, our students receive a high-quality education and become part of a committed, supportive community.

Paswe’aatigook exemplifies excellence, dedication and what can be accomplished through an indigenous approach to community involvement, daily life practices and problem solving. By promoting and expanding access to Anishinaabe’aadziwin (Anishinaabe way of life) through educational programming, resources, workshops and language opportunites/events, we are empowering Anishinaabeg and interested allies in their perspectives and understandings of Anishinaabe worldview.

Our Mission

The mission of the Paswe’aatigook program is “to deliver a strong, stable and well-informed foundation in Anishinaabemowin comprehension, speech and practices through higher education, lifelong learning, and community engagement.”

This mission is more than a statement. It is the driving force behind all that we do and the guiding principle for our dedicated faculty and staff.

Paswe’aatigook seeks to be of service directly to Deshkan Ziibiing, Chippewas of the Thames First Nation band, membership and community spaces, as well as interested individuals applying to or accessing our programing.
